The Epidemiology of Cancer
According to the American Cancer Society, there were approximately 11.4 million Americans with a history of cancer in 2010. Cancer is responsible for nearly 1 in every 4 deaths in the United States. In 2010, the mortality rate was 229.9 per 100,000 in males and 157.8 per 100,000 in females. The incidence rate was 556.5 per 100,000 in males and 414.8 per 100,000 in females.
